Karlov)
Графиня Татьяна Иванова Карлова (Countess Tatiana Ivanova Karlova)
Aleksander
Nikolayevich
Karlov
was
born
into
Russian
aristocracy
towards
the
end
of
August
1917,
the
result
of
the
parting
union
between
Count
Nikolai
Aleksandrovich
Karlov,
and
his
wife
Tatiana
Ivanovna on the eve of his return to his regiment.
It
is
known
that
Count
Nikolai
Aleksandrovich
did
not
ever
meet
his
son,
although
Aleksander
Nikolayevich
came
to
greatly
admire
the
man
that
gave
his
life
in
a
bid
to
rescue
the
Imperial family from the Bolsheviks.
As
a
result
of
the
strong
anti-royalist
sentiments
in
St.
Petersburg,
the
heavily
pregnant
Tatiana
Ivanovna
was
secretly
expatriated
in
the
last
days
of
July
1917
by
family
members
and
friends
who
were
concerned
about
her
safety;
they
believed
that
mother
and
child
would
be
better
off
and
safer
in
Sweden.
Should
the
Bolsheviks
ever
seize
power,
there
would
be
little hope of prosperity for the widow of a loyal Tsarist and his child.
This
precautionary
commitment
was
accepted
by
the
Countess
because
Sweden
was
not
so
far
away
from
the
autonomous
Grand
Duchy
of Finland, and it would be easy to return should the Bolshevik threat come to nothing.
